Meg Foster played the recurring part of Laura Fuller, the mother of Abigail Fuller and the grandmother of Sammy Jo Fuller, in three episodes of Quantum Leap in Season 5, "Trilogy Part I: One Little Heart", "Trilogy Part II: For Your Love", and episode "Trilogy Part III: The Last Door".

Life and career[]

Born and raised in Reading, PA, Meg studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York.

A veteran TV/film actress, Meg is perhaps best known for her roles in the TV miniseries version of The Scarlet Letter, Ticket to Heaven, The Osterman Weekend, and They Live. She played Carla Grunwald, a recurring character, on ABC Family's Ravenswood as well as appearing in the same role in a few episodes of Pretty Little Liars. She also played the role of Detective Christine "Chris" Cagney alongsides actress Tyne Daly, who played the role of her partner Mary Beth Lacey, in the first six episodes the CBS-TV series Cagney & Lacey, before getting replaced in the role by Sharon Gless.

Allegedly, as "urban legend" has it, CBS was unhappy with her performance, thinking that her playing a strong woman would make viewers think the character was a lesbian.

Throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, she has guest starred in countless TV shows including two episodes of Hawaii Five-O (1973 & 1976), The Six Million Dollar Man season two episode "Straight on 'till Morning" (1974) Three for the Road (1975), and the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season four episode "The Muse" (1996).

Other popular TV shows she has appeared in include Bonanza; The Twilight Zone; Barnaby Jones; Murder; She Wrote; Miami Vice; The Cosby Show; Quantum Leap; ER; and Xena: Warrior Princess. She is also well known for playing the villainous Evil-Lyn in the big screen version of Masters of the Universe and the Greek goddess Hera in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

Since the 1990s, she has acted mainly in stage productions, including "King Lear" and "Barabbas". She was previously married to Canadian actor Stephen McHattie. When not acting, Foster breeds horses at her ranch located in northwestern Washington state.
