Susan Vanita Diol (born May 25, 1962) appears as Beth Calavicci, Al Calavicci's first wife in 2 episodes of the original run of Quantum Leap and 5 episodes of the revival. Susan is a character actress who has played supporting roles in over forty TV series, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, NCIS and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Biography[]
Born in Marquette, Michigan, her father is Peter Balwant Singh Diol, and her mother is Christine Katherine. Her middle name, Vanita, means "princess of the forest". She was raised in Columbus, Ohio, along with her siblings Katherine Amrita, Michael Peter, and Jennifer Priya.
Susan was married to Jerry Rapp from April 1, 1991, until their divorce on August 17, 1993. Her second marriage was to actor Shaun Cassidy on May 7, 1995. They had one child together, Juliet Jones-Diol Cassidy, who was born on March 19, 1998. She was divorced from Cassidy on March 1, 2003. Diol married her third husband, Andy Cadiff, on December 20, 2003, in a Jewish ceremony in their backyard in Pasadena, CA. She was divorced from Cadiff on September 1, 2010.

Diol graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, OH.
In 1990, Diol appeared in two episodes of the NBC-TV series Night Court, playing Dan Fielding's (John Larroquette) sister Donna. In 1990-91, she played Emmy Borden, a girl who Bo Brady was involved with after losing his wife, Hope. On November 21, 1991, she appeared in Seinfeld episode no. 26, "The Nose Job", as Audrey (the one who needed the nose job). On November 7, 1995, Diol appeared in an episode of the NBC-TV series Wings, playing a high priced hooker whom Joe and Brian set up with a recently dumped Antonio without realizing her career.
Diol has played several roles of interest to fans of science fiction television. She played Carmen Davila in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Silicon Avatar". She also appeared on Star Trek: Voyager as Doctor Denara Pel in the episodes "Lifesigns" and "Resolutions". In the original Quantum Leap run, she played Al Calavicci's first wife, Beth, in two episodes, one of which was the series finale. She reprises her role in the Quantum Leap revival as Al's widow.
