Joseph "Joe" Basch appears in the Season 2 episode of Quantum Leap titled "Thou Shalt Not...". The part of Joe is played in the episode by James Sutorius.

About Joe

When Sam, who leaps into Joe's brother, Rabbi David Basch, who has just conducted the Bat Mitzvah of Karen, Joe's daughter (played by Lindsay Fisher), he finds a quite upset Joe, who refuses to dance with his wife Irene (Terri Hanauer), so she dances with a friend, Bert Glasserman (Russ Tamblyn), whom he, as with possibly even his brother David suspects that one or the other of having an affair with. In the original timeline of events before Sam's leap into the situation, Irene had a one night stand which gets found out and destroys the family, something Karen never gets over.

When the suspicious Joe confronts Irene and Sam, he angrily accuses he, or David, of fooling around with her, as he strikes him, which Al tells Sam, is a good sign, that he still loves her, as he had earlier said to Sam, that after 22 years of marriage, "there was no more magic" in their relationship -- this changes with the confrontation, after Bert, a confirmed bachelor with a reputation for romancing "grieving women" is exposed as such, when he also confronts him for trying to sleep with Irene.

All turns out well for Joe and Irene, as they both resist cheating on each other, and the family reconciles, as Joe and the others come to grips with the death of son Danny, who died a year earlier in a plane crash while in college.
