Louis Guss (born January 4, 1918 – died September 29 2008) appeared as Alfonso Loggia, the father of criminal figure/businessman Vincent Loggia, who is about to wed wealthy heiress Catherine Farrington, the ex-wife of Sam's leapee, Phillip Dumont, as he tries to prevent it while not getting killed by Loggia in the Season 2 episode of Quantum Leap titled "Sea Bride".


A character actor with a long line of screen credits, Louis appeared in hundreds of TV series, feature films and stage productions, specializing in blue-collar ethnic roles, over a five decade career. His many television appearances include guest roles on Route 66, NBC-TV's Sanford and Son, and The Rockford Files, CBS-TV's All In The Family, NBC's Silver Spoons and The Golden Girls, and ABC's Who's The Boss?.

Louis is perhaps best known for his roles as Don Zaluchi in The Godfather, Raymond Capomaggi in Moonstruck and Joseph Magliocco in Crazy Joe.

Louis's last role was in Sidney Lumet's Find Me Guilty film in 2006.


Guss died at the age of 90 in 2008 from natural causes. He is survived by his wife and son.
